Winchester, Va., June 6, 2023 -
Every year Confederate Memorial Day comes around. Each year, just like with all America’s troops who fought in any American war fought, the graves of fallen soldiers are marked with an American flag. Nowadays, a very commom misconception, that was a well known and understood at the core of our town’s (or city’s) overwhelming diverse & USA founding history fact(s), is that Confederates did not fight and die in service of their country.
Indeed they did! They protected it - Winchester and our way of Christian life. We all knew it. It was a given so much we forgot it and let counter to that move in.
These people on Memorial Day every year do not get on American flag on their graves. They get ignored. BUT, these patriots get a special day! Why? Because no matter the reason (pick one nowadays), these people stood up when their own country tried to get their own people of their state to stand up and shoot their neighbors; based on the Commonwealth being thrown under the bus in the fight over slavery (pick any reason for any war - usually people that don’t speak up for decades while making a buck off people’s misery) and then leave everybody - somebody - holding the bag. Then all of our sons and daughters pay for it with their lives.
Here, we honor those who have fallen and those who came to our aid. Check back as I update this article with more pictures and nice people who love history. We have too much great history her in Winchester. June should be “Patriot Month” with July 4rth coming up. WE should be united as a whole. We should not have a holiday based on any race, creed or color. Nor should we celebrate one group of people at the cost of any other group(s) of people.
July 4, 1776, WE ALL GOT FREED! And look out. They want to do it all over again while you pay for it, not only with your money but with blood and families.
